Our Story
Why We Started Building Backyard Cottages in Wilmington
Wilmington is growing fast. Housing costs are climbing, families want to stay close, and homeowners are sitting on underused backyard space that could be generating income or providing real value. We saw that gap and built a company to fill it.
Wilmington Backyard Cottage was founded on a simple idea: Wilmington homeowners deserve a builder who knows coastal NC construction inside and out — the flood zone rules, the wind-load requirements, the specific zoning quirks of New Hanover County — and who will tell them the truth about what's possible on their lot.
Since our first build, we've completed over 50 ADUs, guest houses, and backyard cottages across Wilmington and the surrounding coast. Every single one was built by people who care about doing the work right.
